Noise-induced hearing loss

Personal media players & noisy environments

In our everyday lives, many of us expose our ears to loud music and loud sounds such as exposure to noise in an industrial or workplace environment or during recreational activities, such as listening to music, car racing and woodworking.

Where this is the case; the level of loud music and sound is harming our hearing potentially resulting in what's known as Noise-induced Hearing Loss (NIHL). NIHL is a becoming an increasingly prevalent problem caused by exposure to loud sounds or noise, especially over a long period of time.

NIHL is a permanent condition in many cases, therefore it is important to preserve and protect your hearing. Furthermore, a continual exposure to these loud sounds can be linked to tinnitus which is a ringing in the ears and could be a first sign of damaged hearing or permanent hearing problems than could affect your work and social life.
